There are three steps to start selling on Amazon.co.jp:

To start selling on Amazon, you’ll first need to create a new Amazon seller account.

2. Register your product
Create a product listing on Amazon Seller Central (or via API). Seller Central is the website where you manage your selling account, add product information, make inventory updates, and manage orders and payments, etc.

3. Prepare inventory and logistics (FBA)
By using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), you can outsource inventory management and shipping operations to Amazon. By using FBA, sellers don’t need to manage inventory or shipping on their own.
What information do I need to create an Amazon seller account?
To create an Amazon seller account, you'll need to prepare a few pieces of information. Prepare what you need, then proceed to create an account.
1. Identity verification documents
Government-issued ID with facial photo (e.g. passport, driver’s license, etc.)
*Individual number cards cannot be used.

2. Statements
Statements issued within the past 180 days (e.g. credit card statements, internet banking statements, etc.)

3. Seller account email address
Email address other than

There are three steps when creating an Amazon seller account.
1. Prepare necessary documents and information
When creating a seller account, you’ll need to submit documents and information.

2. Create an Amazon seller account
When you click “Create an Amazon seller account”, the Amazon account creation screen will be displayed. Proceed with the account creation process by entering the prepared documents and information.

What are the steps to start selling products after creating an Amazon seller account?
Once you've logged into Amazon Seller Central, you'll need to perform the following four tasks.
1. Set up two-step verification
Two-step verification is an important feature that protects your seller account from unauthorized access. Be sure to set it up.

2. Provide information in accordance with the Installment Sales Act
Providing information in accordance with the Installment Sales Act: To start selling on Amazon, you'll need to go through a merchant screening process related to the use of credit card payment services. You must provide relevant information.

3. Amazon Brand Registry (if you have a trademark, go to Brand Registry)
Amazon Brand Registry is a program that protects intellectual property and supports brand building. If you have a trademark, consider registering it.

4. Create product pages
Use the Add a Product feature on Amazon Seller Central to create pages for the products you want to sell. We will perform tasks related to product information, images, pricing, etc.

How much does it cost to sell on Amazon?
The cost of selling on Amazon can be broadly divided into two categories. It depends on your selling plan and product.
  • Selling plan costs
    /Professional selling plan: There is a fixed cost of 4,900 yen (excluding tax) per month, with no selling fees for each product.
    This plan is mainly for sellers who want to increase sales.

    •Individual selling plan: A selling fee of 100 yen (excluding tax) per item
    This plan is mainly for sellers who sell used items or list fewer than 49 items per month.
  • Referral fee
    Amazon charges a referral fee for each product sold. The amount depends on the product category, but the fee is generally around 5% to 15% of total sales.
Other expenses include miscellaneous expenses such as shipping fees and gift wrapping.

  • Shipping charges
    The cost from when Amazon accepts the order until the item is shipped. It varies depending on the size and weight of the product, and starts from 222 yen per time.

  • *Starting April 1, 2023, we stopped charging the returns processing fee for all FBA sellers.
