How FBA works

Create your Amazon selling account, and login to Seller Central to set up FBA. The steps are simple. Simply ship your products to Amazon's distribution locations (fulfillment centers), and Amazon will do the rest, from storage to order processing, shipping, returns and customer service. You can track your FBA inventory in Seller Central.

The benefits of FBA

Everything from storage to shipping will be taken care of by Amazon, so you can focus on more important tasks.
  • Eliminate your fulfillment headaches and get help scaling your business.
  • Outsource storage, customer service, and returns.
  • Prime members can offer free expedited and free same-day shipping benefits.
  • Qualified listings are displayed with the Prime logo.
  • Improve your chance of winning the featured offer spot on detail pages.
With only a small initial investment, you can efficiently use FBA as often as you want for each item, as needed.

Tour a fulfillment center

There are 175 Amazon fulfillment centers around the world. Orders for products that are listed for FBA will be shipped from here.

How to know if Fulfillment by Seller works best for you

We recommend that you ship products that are not eligible for FBA with Fulfillment by Seller. For example, this may include dangerous good(s) or items that have long-term storage fee charges, which do not meet fulfillment center management requirements.

By shipping using Fulfillment by Seller in these cases, you will benefit from the following advantages:
  • Keep your inventory on hand
  • Use your own packaging or labels
  • Stay profitable on products with tighter margins
  • Offer products that are eligible for sale on Amazon, but ineligible for FBA

Amazon's drop shipping policy

Drop-shipping is when you enlist a third-party to fulfill orders on your behalf. Amazon has very specific policies around this practice. Please follow these guidelines if you are considering using this option. Otherwise, your selling privileges may be revoked.
