How to start selling on Amazon

What is Stock and Sell?

Stock and Sell refers to purchasing products and then selling them. This is a common method used by retailers, wholesalers, and other businesses to handle products.
Stock and Sell distributors purchase products from wholesalers and makers and sell them in their own stores and online stores. When selling a product they have purchased, it is necessary to establish appropriate pricing and sales strategies for customers.
They aim to make a profit by providing products to customers through sales channels, promotional activities, and advertising.

The purpose of Stock and Sell is to purchase products at reasonable prices and sell them effectively to customers who have a demand for them. With hundreds of millions of customers around the world making purchases every day, Amazon is highly recommended for stocking and selling.
Sellers are required to assess the balance between supply and demand and ensure appropriate purchase volume to maximize profits while meeting the needs of customers.

Preparations required for Stock and Sell

  • Market segment research and demand forecasting: Research what products are in demand and what other companies in your industry are offering to forecast demand. Amazon provides a Product Recommendation created based on the previous week's order value.
  • Selecting suppliers: It is important to choose wholesalers and makers you can trust. Consider factors such as quality, price, and delivery time.
  • Profit calculation: It is also important to purchase at the right price, set the selling price appropriately, and calculate profit. Estimate your profit by considering purchase price, selling price, sales volume, and expenses.
  • Marketing Strategy: It's also important to think about how to sell your products. Develop strategies such as sales methods, sales promotion activities, advertising, etc. Amazon offers pay-per-click advertising that even those new to advertising can start with confidence, and can support effective marketing strategies.
  • Inventory management: Manage inventory properly and balance the supply of products with the demand for them. With Amazon, inventory management, which tends to be complicated, can be centrally managed through a sales management screen called Seller Central.
  • Note: To sell branded products protected by copyright, trademark, or patent, you must be the legal owner of the brand or an authorized reseller. For details, please check Amazon's intellectual property policy for sellers.
It is important to consider these points as you prepare to begin stocking and selling.
In addition to stocking and selling, it is also possible to use OEM and sell as an original brand.

Add a product you have purchased

In most cases, products must have a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), such as a UPC, an ISBN, or an EAN. Amazon uses these product IDs to identify the exact item you’re selling.
If you match a listing (in other words, the packaging, color, shape and accessories match exactly), you won’t need to provide a product ID since it already exists.
If you’re listing a product for the first time on Amazon, you can apply for GS1 registration and create a barcode, or request an exemption.
Please see the video below at 7:47 for the steps from product search to registration.

Amazon jargon:

ASIN

Every product offered for sale on Amazon gets an automatically generated ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number). However, GTIN and SKUs are not automatically generated. Multiple sellers may offer the same ASIN.

Your offer details will be displayed on a “product detail page.” If you’ve ever shopped on Amazon, you’ve seen one. Product detail pages are where customers find all of the relevant information about a particular item.

When multiple sellers offer the same product, Amazon combines data from those various offers on a single detail page. Sellers who offers the product can contribute to detail page information - or request detail page reviews if the information displayed is incorrect.

If you sell your products under a registered trademark, consider enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry. Amazon Brand Registry is a free service that gives you increased control over product detail pages that use your brand name.
